Create new account

This page is your way into the realm of Shadowmere. I know you are in a hurry. But we need some rules to ensure that things go well for all of us.
By creating a new account you agree to the following rules:

The Rules

  1. Introduction and basic conditions
    1. The Rules are here to keep Shadowmere fun for everyone.
    2. The rules may be altered at any time.
    3. Should you not understand a rule or its wording contact an admin or post in general mail so it can be explained to you.
    4. You play this game at your own risk. The owners are not liable for any damages your computer or system may take.
    5. It is your own decision how much time you spend on Shadowmere and where and when you play it. We advise you not to play in school or at work, if you are not allowed to. A healthy sleep and your friends and family are more important than a 10 minute retal window in a key stack.
    6. Any legal issues shall be governed by German law.
  2. General Rules
    1. Derogatory comments/words towards Shadowmere or the Shadowmere staff are not permitted. Generally it is up the admin involved to choose if action is taken, but another staff member may act without their consent should the said staff member not be available. Staff includes shadowmere admins and overlords.
    2. Excessively abusive language is not tolerated in Shadowmere. This includes, but is not limited to your kingdom and user name, your alliance name and any in-game mail systems and chat. Teasing and taunting an opponent is fine as long as nobody starts crying. You can be warned, deleted or even banned for displaying:
      1. Racially intolerant, sexist, ageist, faith based, homophobic, sexually based comments, words, graphics or external links.
      2. Other comments, words, graphics or external links, intending to cause offense.
      3. Personally Abusive or derogatory language.
      4. Naked people or images of pornographic nature.
      5. Consistent and or malicious persecution of a player or their character in chat or GM.
Being “in character” is not an excuse to break the rules. Remember that children of all ages and people who are affected by school or office Internet policies access and play this game too. Anything posted must be suitable for viewing in these environments. A player doesn’t need to complain about things said towards them in order for action to be taken assuming the thing said is in violation of the rules.
    3. If you name your kingdom or user name something which is deemed against the rules you will not have the option of changing the name of the offending kingdom/user name. You will be forced to delete the kingdom. This isn’t intended as punishment, but due to the limitations of the game code. An admin or overlord also doesn’t have that power to change a kingdom's name.
    4. Using scripts (so called “bots”) to interface with the game on your behalf is not permitted. This includes script usage in the testserver. Shadowmere developers may use scripts for game testing/running purposes (preferably in the testserver).
    5. The use of a public or anonymous proxy is considered trying to circumvent the multi restriction and is not permitted unless you can present a reason accepted by the administrative group for your actions. If you are intending to use a proxy, you must inform the admin staff.
    6. Exploiting a known bug or flaw knowingly will get you punished. Upon encountering a bug, please report it to the admins.
    7. Hacking is strictly prohibited. Any person attempting to hack another player's kingdom or the server will be met with the full arsenal available to us for combating Internet Piracy.
  3. Game specific rules:
    1. Having multiple log in names is not allowed in the gameserver. You may have as many as you want in the testserver.
    2. The amount of kingdoms a player may have per universe is limited. You can create as many as the user interface lets you under one login name in the gameserver. If you are caught playing more kingdoms (i.e. using a second login), your kingdoms will be deleted or disabled at our (the admins) sole discretion. Severe offenders will be punished harder and can have all their kingdoms in all universes deleted or be banned. A deity counts as a kingdom. An overlord or admin account is not included as a kingdom. An overlord is allowed more than one kingdom for testing purposes. If multiple users are accessing Shadowmere from the same IP you can easily get in trouble. We suggest to contact an admin or overlord before the second account is created.
    3. If you would like to start over, you can delete your kingdom and start a new one, but only when the old one has actually been removed from the game entirely. This happens 24 hours after you hit confirm button after having selected to delete.
    4. You and you alone may manage your kingdom. It is not permitted to:
      1. take ownership/trading a kingdom that someone has offered to you.
      2. give out your personal login details to someone else, except to the Overlords.
      3. take care of someone else's kingdom; vacation mode is there for that purpose.
      4. create a kingdom for someone else. This includes just reserving their name.
      5. allow someone else to login to your kingdom.
    5. Intentional land transfer is not allowed. Land transfer (LT) is defined as: Deliberately making it possible for someone to attack your kingdom and gain land. If you are caught without a proper defense, it will look like you participated in a land transfer. Attacking a kingdom from below it's score indicates LT. You will have to explain and prove why it was not a land transfer.
    6. Friendly abuse (FA) is not allowed. FA is an attack with the only purpose to fill a kingdom's attack slots to protect it from other kingdoms. In situations that look like FA you will have to explain and prove why it was not a friendly abuse. Examples are filling a kingdom's attack slots with harmless attacks when another kingdom has retals and a stack is probable. This will be policed harder the closer you come to the top. We assume that the players up there know what they do. (It is the reason why they are up there.)
  4. Admins/overlords/leadership group:
    1. Admins don't have control over what is said via private mail or a non shadowmere related instant messaging services like MSN, YIM, AIM and ICQ. You give out your contact details at your own discretion.
    2. Admins are appointed by overlords alone. The general playing group and other admins are free and welcome to make suggestions, but ultimately it's the overlord's decision. The same rule applies for removing admin rights.
  5. Punishments:
    1. Punishment and warnings are up to the admin group's discretion and are generally issued to the offending kingdom, but may instead be addressed to the owner of the kingdom, the ruler.
    2. They may differ due to type, awareness and seriousness of the offence committed.
    3. Classic examples are:
      1. Warnings.
      2. Silencing from chat, general mail and roleplay mail.
      3. Disablement over a given period of time.
      4. Punishment mode which gives unlimited retal slots and heavy restrictions on open market use.
      5. Deletion.
      6. Banning.
Please note that these rules were not created to restrict the playability of the game. They were created to level the playing field and to improve the overall game experience for everyone playing.

If you have any general game questions, we suggest you try the Shadowmere Help Wiki. The Shadowmere staff will generally be very cooperative and answer most questions (especially in general mail) but requests for any type of reimbursement or to reveal player information or otherwise hidden game statistics will be quite possibly be ignored so please do not take offence.

Sincerely
The Overlords

It is me again. Thankyou for reading the rules. You can now create one ruler in the gameserver and one in the testserver. I suggest to start in the gameserver first. Use the testserver to learn more about the game, to test out new changes or to mess around without ruining your real kingdoms.

By signing up you create your Ruler. You can create the kingdom(s) when you log in with your Ruler.
NOTE: Only A-Z,a-z,0-9 are allowed for your UserID and Password!

*Remember: Having multiple log in names is not allowed in the gameserver. You may have as many as you want in the testserver.*
